Is ContractorUK really about Contracting?

I don't think so!

I've returned recently having only posted a little in the last few years. Mordac gave up years ago, his excuse was that it was a shadow of it's former self.

On a quick scan of the last 300 or so threads started. Less than 10% are contractor/IT related. It appears of those, I started about 20%.

The site has become bloated on soft porn & silly word games. There is no need for moderation, because nobody cares and is offended. Any sensible question, never gets an answer.

What's interesting is, we seem to have an older selection of contractors according to a recent poll. But I don't see any newbie asking questions and getting meaningful answers. Whats the point? You may as just ask about what you had for lunch!

Huge amount of experience here, but the site offers no value or no imagination, and to be honest, if I owned it, I wouldnt bother because there is no commercial value in having all of these users/logins and porn links.

Really, is this the way you want to see this site go? Contracting is more complex and cut throat than ever! Do we really have nothing to offer?

Cut the chaff I say and decide on what this site stands for, because otherwise it has no value.

Without getting into detailed analysis 90% of the threads you posted in the last few weeks are total tulip.

Frankly, General on BBS isn't a place for serious stuff - it's a RR zone, and by that I don't mean RogerRabbit's zone, but rather Rest and Recuperation zone.

I do think 80% of stuff in General should be in Light Relief. And there are too many threads. Why does every new bit of house price/global warming/recession news need its own thread?
Result is that the whole board only goes back a few months, and if you try and search for something useful that was posted longer ago than that, it won't be there.

and to be honest, if you bothered to work out how much time it has taken to post this tulip over the last few years, to be honest you could have spent the time becoming a millionaire like DP!

It's not really is it? I would have expected General to be about General contracting. Frankly most of it should be in light relief.

Again, as I said to Tool. If ATW put as much effort into SKA as he did into posting tulip on BB sites he'd be really successful! To be honest, thats the main reason why nobody on this site is successful! I dont see any of the Dragons posting 10000's of postings on a internet Bulletin board. Do you?
