I forgot to tell Lady Tester...

That the Wales v France game is starting at 21h Dutch time. I'll be preparing a nice meal and I opened the barolo this morning to let it breathe, so I think she's expecting a romantic candlelit dinner.

She might be disappointed when I suggest we eat our Brasato with porcini risotto in front of the telly.

I'd be more disappointed that you're pairing a wine that will completely conflict with the risotto you're having.

        Yes, far too heavy!

I'd prefer a nice Pinot Grigio myself...

A light red, along the lines of a Sangiovese di Romagna or a Valcalepio Rosso would be better.

Barolo goes better with game or heavy ragu based sauces.

                Girly drinks.

Have you not heard of Brasato al Barolo? The signature dish of Piemont.

Yes and I have eaten it in said area.

It still doesn't mean that a porcini risotto is going to go with a heavy barolo.
