Do they have a big selection of movies about Gladiators in Saudi?

Welcome New Guy, and on the new job.

(most 'working overseas' tips are in the business/contracts forum, iirc)

Now if you lead the way to your drinks cabinet.....
Oh, I’m sorry….I seem to be lost. I was looking for the sane side of town. I’d ask you for directions, but I have a feeling you’ve never been there and I’d be wasting my time.

You'll find that lots of states have better methods for collecting revenue/funding stupid wars than simply taxing the common man

Don't believe everything you hear about Saudi - they are extremely liberal there.

            Must pack items include:

            Variety of alcoholic beverages
            Walls sausages
Porn collection - the kinkier the better
Blow up doll - must be covered in native garb so as not to offend
            Revealing clothing
            Pot noodles

Don't want people to underestimate this. Dubai is 47 degrees at 100% humidity which is NOT pleasant.

I would also think about a short course or read up on culture and the basics of the language. They can have some very strange customs which you are well advised to know about and to be honest are very interesting.

You will be shown much respect if you show it initially and from this can have a great time. If you just walk round like an ignorant westener you are not going to experience the wealth of culture out there.

You have to watch out for the wild life there. A mate of mine had a camel-spider attached to his clothing, so it got in under his mosquito netting. The next morning he had an ulcerous sore the size of a ping pong ball.
He hadnt felt a thing due to the pain numbing enzymes in the spider - spit.

Then the medical care let him down and he had to have it amputated.

just be careful, thats all I am saying
