Big rise in petrol/diesel prices on the way

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8569525.stm

Petrol prices could hit a record high of £1.20 a litre in the next few weeks, according to the AA.

Increases in the wholesale price of petrol since January are to blame for the rise in forecourt prices, the motoring organisation said.

It urged the Chancellor, Alistair Darling, to postpone the introduction of a planned 3 pence rise in petrol duty due to come in on 1 April.

So some more fuel duty as well. Nice one, just what the country needs.

Record high? ISTR paying £1.35 / litre when it last peaked a couple of years back.

          We need a poll here.

How high does the price need to go before the average job public decides to seek alternative measures?

Obviously DimPrawn and SASGuru do not fall in the average Joe category.

Crude oil was $147 a barrel then.

              Now it's $80 a barrel.

Think what we'll be paying next year. £2 a litre I would expect.

Can't say I'm bothered about the price of petrol going up. It would be nice if people used their cars less and got on their bikes more.

No, patently so. However, they ASPIRE to reach average, and you should not demean them for it. Shame on you!
