bullying on this forum - an update

After the troll fest that was the "bullying on this forum" thread I am please to announce :

The trolls are sleeping now. Much more sedate, we will continue to monitor their progress.

One or two casualties along the way, but I hope they return.

Some have booked into holiday fora for a break, but will return shortly

As somebody else posted there's no such thing as bullying on a forum.

Seriously, nobody has to be here.

You can walk away anytime and no more grief if that's what you're experiencing.

There's no such thing as aggression on a forum either, you can threaten or insult or abuse but aggression is a prelude to violence perhaps displaying anger beforehand. More for a face to face scenario than cyberspace.

I don't recall moaning. The trolling thing I think is harder to live down. You have made me reflect. I have regrets about this post.

That's a load. Just because you can leave doesn't stop it being bullying. If you are a member of a social club and a couple of people start making it miserable to the point you freely choose to leave, that's bullying. Same on the forum. You can choose to leave but are then leaving relationships and a community behind.

I don't really see there has been bullying, unless a lot of PMs go back and forth behind the scenes, but it's naive and/or blinkered to say you can't have bullying online.
