    Hung parliament

Don't think for a moment that a hung parliament will give you Dave plus Vince.

Senior Whitehall sources stressed tonight that Brown could remain prime minister and try to create a working majority even if the Tories were to win most seats.
And I rather think that he would.

Oh, I am going to enjoy this

HAB is well ahead of the game (as usual)
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

There is a part of me that thinks a hung parliament lead by Brown could be the better outcome taking a medium term view.

It will trigger the gilt crisis that will force the government to deal with its spending and debt problems but the governing coalition would not be stable to last more than one year so another general election would have to be held.

An outright Labour win will also trigger the gilt crisis but the country would be stuck with a Labour government for another five years.

          Best possible scenario.

In the long run, yes, but in the short term absolutely destructive; in fact, don’t underestimate the damage to the private sector if Britain’s country credit rating is damaged; companies are already facing a credit shortage and this would make it so much worse. Plus; you know how numpties react when they feel threatened; they go on strike and vote for socialists.

It is going to be absolutely destructive whoever wins, I am sorry to say.

And the second one brought in 5 more years of Labour Government

Though Brown is ever the procrastinator.
Indeed he is. But if Labour get back in, I still don't think he'll last long. Wouldn't you feel uneasy with the Prince of Darkness behind you?
