I like their board rules:

All discussions may be limited or deleted on an entirely subjective basis, particularly:

1) Trolling and unwarranted personal attacks on the owners or on members who use or view the board

2) Discussions of race, nationality, sexuality, etc that become ugly and/or violent.

3) Accusations and/or threats, including those centering on the board's administration policies.

Re: (1), discussing a general issue of nationality or politics or race is not a personal attack on one person, so it may be permitted unless it degenerates into unreasoned stereotyping or a continual vent against some group. So (1) is consistent with allowing all kinds of discussion.

Re: The judgement of unacceptability in (2) is entirely subjective. Posting a racial slur in every other post is over the line. The individual's overall contribution to the community will be taken into account.

Re: (3) The vast majority of participants seem to like and appreciate the policies used here, and one person bitching has no right to change the character of the board. Post your *reasoned* objection in the "About this board" section. If several people jump on your bandwagon, the policies can be changed. If it's just you, find another board if you hate this one so much.

Lots of discussions verge on ugliness, even when discussing such issues in general and not attaching them specifically to individuals.

IE, a person of some specific nationality reading some postings here may become uncomfortable. That is truly unfortunate. That is not the intended outcome. The alternative, however, is to impose political correctness that tends to shut down many important discussions.

Use this board, post to this board, and use any information posted to this board at your own risk.
