Someone showed me a system to win at roulette

    You bet £1 a time.

You only bet on red or black.

If you win, you switch colour and bet £1 again.

If you lose you double your stake on the same colour until you win, and then you switch colour again going back to £1 bet.

    Eg.

You bet £1 on red, you win, you bet £1 on black. You lose that so you bet £2 on black. You lose again so you bet £4 on black. You win and so you switch to red and bet £1. You lose, so bet £2 on red, you win and switch back to black, going back to £1 bet.

Try it online (e.g. Ladbrokes casino).

Ah, the old doubling up system

Slight problem with it. No matter how much you gamble, you'll only win a quid each time it lands on the right colour. Let me explain...

Bet a quid on black, ball lands on black. You win a quid.

Bet a quid on black, ball lands on red. Bet 2 quid on red, ball lands on red. You win 2 quid, minus a quid from your first bet. You win a quid.

Bet a quid on black, ball lands on red. Bet 2 quid on red, ball lands on black. Bet 4 quid on black, ball lands on black. You win 4 quid, minus 2 quid from your second bet, minus a quid from your first bet. You win a quid.

So you're not going to win much. Sorry.

I've now got over £250 in the pot.

If you don't want to risk real money just play online with pretend money and report back.

Thing is each spin takes a few seconds.

You analysis is spot on, you make a quid every few minutes on average.

Over an hour you can make £50 quid.

Can anyone explain to Dim (in simple terms obviously) why Casinos make lots and lots of money...... and gamblers (in the long run) lose money....

Could you just mention the fact that the odds are always (just slightly) in the houses favour.......
