What about all the people IN Iceland

My wife pointed out, the BBC has virtually zero coverage on what's going on in Iceland. A giant volcano is going off and we only hear about how it affects our travel arrangements.

Anyone got any links to what's going on over there? Not only have they got the volcano, but I'd expect they get proper ash-fall. Not to mention they are dependent on the outside world for virtually everything, aren't they?

But that's one specific story... isn't there a page listing all the Iceland-specific stories rather than them being mixed up with stories about people being stuck in Lithuania on a stag do?

Not a lot is the answer to that.

The volcano itself isn't really bothering anyone over there, it's not caused any major damage nor is it threatening any homes.

Keflavik airport has remained open and flights have been possible to the US and to Norway.

Most of the English language news services over there seem to be very relaxed about it.

ITV had a reporter there this morning. She had flown in from the US.

Their airspace is fine. Volcano is at the tip of the country and spewing over Europe.

          Now. If the wind changes!!!!!

or when it starts faltering, and the ash column lowers.

Mind you, they reckon another one will kick off soon (within the next year anyway).

Apparently the last time this one erupted ( 200 years ago? ) it went on for three years...

Rail and sea travel could be about to get very popular.

Nope, loads of fish and quite a few reindeer ... given that was my diet while over there. Why do they serve fish eggs on everything!? And 66 (degree north) clothing was a welcome change from the ubiquitous North Face.

£7 a pint of viking was money well spent though ...
