    Dogfooding

    Given how many people complained (justifiably) about the way the new version of vBulletin used Tahoma as the default font, thereby making things harder to read, I was amused to notice the following in vBulletin's own forum stylesheet:

    Code:
    font-family: Verdana, Calibri, Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif;
    Not only have they replaced Tahoma (formerly first in the list) with Verdana, they've also left Verdana in its subordinate position, presumably in case the browser didn't hear them the first time

    Eating one's own dog food, also called dogfooding, is when a company uses the products that it makes. Dogfooding can be a way for a company to demonstrate confidence in its own products, and hence a kind of testimonial advertising...

    The fact that they have chosen to modify the default styling rather than use what they provide to their customers speaks volumes, IMHO. The fact that they have been slipshod in doing so says even more.

    Anyway, I've got to get back to wiping the arse of this elephant that isn't in vBulletin's living room...

Working...
