    UK telephone numbers

Which telephone prefixes are dodgy, expensive or free (not all three).
    • 0800 - ?
    • 0844 - Premium rate?
    • 0845 - ?
    • 0870 - Premium/Higher rate
    • 0871 - Premium rate
    • Any mobile phone number - expensive

What prefixes indicate a free call - 0800?

Also, what number do you use for directory enquiries and operator?

    0800 are free to call

0845 are 2ppm peak and 0.05 ppm off peak - which i think is local rate

directory enquiries are the 118 numbers - you must have seen the adverts.....

    100 is still operator afaik

      0906 are £1.00 a minute at least.

The Schengen country embassies make u call one if you're non-EU for 15/20 mins to book an appointment for a visa interview. Bastards.

Most service providers I've ever used have not charged for 0800 numbers via mobile.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

I should really have said up to 40p/min, but it was just a quick summary.

I prefer 999 over 112 (EU) for emergency services though. Even if the cat could accidentally call the police.

Takes longer to dial though, if you have the older pulse dialling type of phone.
