BBC News - Identity cards set to be scrapped

Yaaay!!....good. But I wonder what the total wasted expenditure has been of that little project?

Plenty, but nothing compared with what it would have cost. I will allow myself a little smile, pending annoucement of the full details but it looks as if for once I have actually got something I voted for - rare indeed.

Yay civil liberty. Boo no big gov gravy train.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Did anyone work on the project or even know anyone that worked on the project?

          Was it all Bobs?

I worked on a few police projects but I never heard of anyone working on this.

I knew at least three people, working somewhere near Victoria, but lost touch with them years ago. None were Bobs, they weren't IT developers.

Anyway, this is good news for privacy. It will also save a few bob, in more ways than one.

It looks like my project isn't going to be canned - it'd cost more to cancel than to let us proceed.

When I see it in the Times/Telegraph I'll be happier..
