Do you think guy who can make $4bln without doing much work cares if its a Jew or Russian he robs the money from?

Yukos was made an example of what they can do to any business, and it worked very well - Russian mentality of protecting your own today without thinking what will happen tomorrow.

The real sad thing is that Yukos was crap underperforming company before Khodorkovsky but he was one of the first to start investing money into better equipment and managed to turn around company that was one of the biggest by capitalisation until he got robbed of everything.

Don't think UK cares much about source of huge investmented that are made here - most of them legalised now by making IPOs here or selling part of companies to western companies.

Khodorkhovsky

I feel he has been used by Putin for a few things

a) An example to oligarchs to make sure that they dont become to critical of the incumbent regime.
b) A spectacle to gain more support from the masses, who are having a hard time economically and would resent people like K becuase they are so rich. Nothing like a bit of bloodletting to appease the masses

So taking him down was a win win situation, not to mention the nice little revenue earner from the tax bill.

I agree with ATW that anybody surrounding this whole thing who is jewish is purely co-incidental.

The UK is secure so Russian businessmen can sleep soundly here at night without having to worry about jackbooted militsia carting him or his family off to prison on some beurocrats whim. Its a winner for the UK as well as these guys are seriously loaded and are spending all their hard earned cash here and bolstering the UK financial industry to boot
