    Cumbrian gunman runs amok

Reports are that he killed a friend, went on random killing spree and then killed himself. At least 5 dead. Reports are that it was not AtW.

I hate it when the media use the word "spree" when they mean mass murder. The London laydeez have a shopping spree in Harvey Nicks, and I think this is the correct use of the word.

It was a killing spree, mass murder is lining 'em up against a wall and killing 'em en masse! Shirley?

              spree (plural sprees)

              1. A merry frolic; especially, a drinking frolic.
              2. Uninhibited activity.

I know what you mean, it sounds wrong. 'Spree' seems to insinuate fun/jollity.
Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

Very sad. Especially for the innocent bystanders. Horrible.

                    From that article:

One neighbour of Mr Bird described him as a quiet man who kept "himself to himself"
                    <sigh> Aren't they always?
