Germany- ze Baltic Coast; anyvon been zere?

I’m planning to take a long weekend somewhere on the Baltic coast with Lady Tester. I thought of Heiligendamm, but the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm’s had some poor reviews recently, even though it looks fabulous. Has anyone been to the German Baltic coast and can recommend some smart places to visit, sleep and eat?

It's the one part of Deutschland I don't really know well, and my usual hotel websites (slh.com, cntraveller.com, johansens.com) don't really have much on offer.

Not been there but you could give HRS - HOTEL RESERVATION SERVICE a go, they've been advertising a lot around here.
