    Bees

    How many bees have you seen this year?

    I saw one a few weeks ago, lying in the road.

    I've lost count how many bees I've seen in the garden this year. Even rescued one from the kitchen a week ago

      The wife said she had a massive one in the car last week and had to pull over and let it out. It was so big she took a photo.

        I keep telling ya; they've gone home.
        How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

            Well lets see.....
            Hive = Circa 50-70 thousand....
            Inspections say 1-4 weeks.....
            Lets say 50% out foraging during inspections... so 25-35 thou per inspection....
            Lets assume 2 week inspections......
            "House" Bees during 1 visit will be foragers by next visit....
            so thats 25-35 thou per inspection.... April-Jul circa 12 weeks = 6 inspections = 6 x 25-35 = 150-210 thou
            1 x swarm = 25-35 thou (the flying bees)

            Lets say 250,000

            Plus hundreds of Bumbles....

            Oh hang on I visited a mates Apiary.... 6 hives add another 250,000

            So over 1/2 a million.....

            Hows that?
