    Boomed!

Just started on a project that goes live in 2014. Best rate I ever had and they're going to train me in a new fangled testing tool that's the dogs knackers (apparently).

    Unfortunately not commutable from blighty

Good grief, a four year project? What's that - a manned mission to Mars?

(Are they looking for any perl/python hackers?)

A large bank is replacing all of their (ancient) core systems.

        Python has been mentioned....

Is this large bank now in public hands and hence now has unlimited public money, hence unlimited deadlines by any chance?

Python sounds a bizarre choice (though quite capable). You think you've a shot of 4 year's work from this?

You did see my location and comment about commuting, right?

Don't think its a serious contender.

This is a massive project, Release 2 goes live next year, release 3 in 2014. Think its definitely feasible for a lengthy gig. They're on a huge recruiting drive right now but the market is very boyant over here and getting good people is proving tough.
