              When I worked in the NL I was told that the dentists were as bad as the UK ones.

Worse; due to a nasty combination of Calvinist stinginess and a mad protestant idea of pain bringing you closer to your imaginary god, many of them eschew the use of anaesthetics unless you demand them. This one, however, is quite happy to use anaesthetics of whatever nature I request, as I simply pay with a credit card at the desk and he cashes in a tulipload of money, obviously sticking a big margin on whatever he administers. Just as I would.
