Oh Dear: Credit card firm targets teens

    http://business.timesonline.co.uk/ar...010273,00.html

MASTERCARD was accused yesterday of encouraging teenagers to go into debt with the launch of a payment card for children.
The biggest credit card group is issuing prepayment cards to let youngsters purchase products on plastic.

I can't see how they can 'launch' a card that's been available for at least 3 years already. Why wasn't a fuss made back then.

And what's this about teens going into debt? It's a prepayment card!

The accusation that it is priming kids for credit cards is a fair criticism. Also it goes in the opposite direction to teaching kids the value of money.
