The axe is rumoured to be swinging in the City.
Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office. -
I'd like to go there and swing an athletics hammer instead; it will swing at a much higher speed and ultimately produce a lot more gore than an axe.And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014 -
Doooooooooooom.
Piffle and speculation yet again.
Just another cycle of redundancies that most of these companies go through every couple of years to get rid of unwanted chaff, the recession is their excuse to do so.Comment

It brings me to a more important question; is there any point in doing a good job if you work for a multinational? Every few months, the quarterly figures come out and if they’re 0.1% below ‘analyst’s expectations’ then someone in the boardroom presses the red button on the redundancy randomiser and you’ve got a 1 in x chance of losing your job.
Many permies realise this and wisely avoid doing any work that might leave them tired at the end of the day; a few leave and go contracting, thereby becoming equally expendable but somewhat wealthier. Others manage to blame someone else for anything that goes wrong and have a 1 in y chance of someday being paid a large sum to press buttons on the redundancy randomiser. Those who don’t fit these categories end up living under bridges drinking methylated spirits. And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014Comment
