      Our homeland we defend

And with the cross of Jesus he leads the hunt

Surely the West has the intellect to work out ways of dividing the young, well educated people of Iran from their fanatical leaders. Invading Iran would be suicidal, but sanctions could be used to unsettle the leaders.

When diplomacy ends then you will be paying 90 bucks a pop for Oil ,and thats just for starters.

As mentioned recently , The West needs Iran more than Iran needs the West.

But havent you criticised the UN before for its lack of aggresion towards Iraq, are you now in favour of the UN ?

What about other states in the Middle East who defy the UN and the Atomic Energy Authorites and persue atomic weapons ,what fate should they suffer ?

The UN wont do a thing simply because China and Russia will veto any action, thus the impotency of this organisation will once again be seen.

                  Aye Milan

Youve seen through the smokescreen, this is the real issue that troubles the US, the previous country to launch the Non Dollar Oil Bourse was ...Iraq.

Needless to say, post the invasion Iraq no longer trades Oil for Euros but for US Dollars.

If the US was really concerned about nuclear proliferation then why did it not stop N Korea acquiring those weapons, and remember this was on the countrys labled by the US as the axis of Evil.

Besides which there is no evidence that Iran is producing nuclear weapons, but thats a mere detail, the Dollars hegemony dictates that the Iranian Oil Bourse must be destroyed.

War is economics by alternative means.

                    Alf,

I think your obsession with Oil reveals a lack of intellect. There are many intricate dynamics behind the politics of the Middle East, of which oil is certainly a major component. However it is not as simple as your mind seems to think. Iran is not Iraq for a start so your neat little set of rules do not apply. Iran does not have an all powerful despot with an iron grip over its people. Instead it has a large population of young and well educated people who have ambitions that go beyond being part of backward secular state. The US know this, so does China and so does the rest of the world. Going to war with Iran is not an option as it would unite the people of Iran (and everyone else for that matter).

If you will pardon the pun, you have a very crude right or wrong view towards the middle east, that seems to do nothing more than satisfy your own resentment of the Americans.
