    Irritated

Many moons ago, the homepage on my pc was set to Yahoo. Having logged in, this is what greeted my eye in the central 'news' category. (In my defence: until a fortnight ago, it did have links to all the major newspapers which made it quite handy.)

X Factor to show Cheryl Cole's malaria collapse
    Scotland defends Lockerbie bomber release
Mohamad's early red card sets Bundesliga record
John James tells of love for Josie
From Glamour To Geek: Hollywood's New Hero
British soldier shot dead in Afghanistan
Man shot dead in back garden
'Britain's most disgusting person' at large
Clegg denies Lib Dems 'damaged' by coalition
Police plan for demo despite marches ban

Perhaps I'm old fashioned, but I have no idea who John James or Josie are and nor do I want to, I don't give a flying left b*llock about Cheryl Cole, articles about law and order are in last place, the death of a young man fighting for our country warrants a middle ranking - probably because last nights Big Brother eviction is now very old news and they needed something to fill the space.

I'll stop now, but it does really annoy me.
Oh, I’m sorry….I seem to be lost. I was looking for the sane side of town. I’d ask you for directions, but I have a feeling you’ve never been there and I’d be wasting my time.

Are you talking about me. I SAID, ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ME?
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

I know what you mean. I don't give a f*k about BB, Cheryl or other assorted oxygen thieves either. The order is probably based on what the 'Great British Public' viewed most though, and that is even more depressing.

I'd learn how to change your home page if I were you.

If this is a major problem in your life, I'd suggest you're doing ok. FFS, some people have real problems.

yep, and it is creeping increasingly into the papers. Pandering to the masses.

Sh!t like that will soon become part of the national curriculum:

                  2015 A-Level Sociology

Q1. In 2010, Lady Cole suffered a serious affliction whilst judging the UK's annual singing contest with Lord Cowell.
What affliction did she suffer and who ultimately went on to win the contest?

Q2. Lady GaGa - Original maverick or just a shallow copy of Queen Madonna?
Discuss. Additional marks will be awarded for drawings of her outfits.

                  Q3. Frankie Goes to Hollywood
                  Did he ever get there?

OTOH, there's something to be said for not living in "interesting times".

Would you rather see headlines like:

North Korean army massing on border
                    Bat flu death toll soars
Large asteroid on collision course with Earth

                    etc
