What budget cuts would you make?

Just found this rather fun little tool on the BBC website:

BBC News - Spending Review: What would you cut?

Reminds me of playing Sim City. These are the cuts I made to get to a saving of £50B:

    welfare - 8%

    Education - 4%

    Personal social services - 8%

    Housing - 7%

    Transport - 8%

    'Other' - 27%

having 'other' is a bit of a cheat so we could make it harder by discounting 'other' or putting a cap on how much 'other' you can cut.

So - go on then.... how would you save £50B?

I wouldn't make any cuts. I'd increase taxes for the duration.

    We're all in it together.

I'm surprised the Tories haven't worked out that a 25% reduction in pension payments would just about do the job on its own.

Where's the option for not p*ssing money up the wall with the large consultancies or groupd of people engaged in expensive and pointless activity? Why does it always have to be looked at job cuts?

No mention either of funding India's social welfare programme whilst they muck about with space rockets either.

I would cut the crap. Then I would cut Gordon Browns nuts off. To finish with a flourish I would cut the cheese.

If you cut everything by only 24% then the massive debt would just about stop growing and ever so slightly begin to drop.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

And you reckon pensioners have got disposable income of 25% to lose without any consequences?

I think a public execution of Gordon Brown at the tower of london would stimulate the economy more than he ever did. Think of the number of tickets it would sell.

How about a tax tax? Something like 10% should cover it.
