Anyone thought about learning to fly?

Anyone on here got a PPL or thought about getting one?

yeah though about, then what? Buy, hire my own plane with all these budget airlines about flying everywhere and anywhere? That kind of took the fun out of the idea for me, so I'm now thinking about learning to sail and buying my own yacht.... oh arr, it was a dark and stormy night and the captain said unto his men, gather round boys I've got a story to tell....

I don't think it is possible - Icarus tried it but you need very large breast muscles to support the body weight.

Cover him in boiling pork fat, and see if he screams.... if he does, burn him. If he doesnt, burn him.

Yep - had one for over 15 years. Fly mainly twin engined aircraft now - Piper Seneca II 200T Turbo. Flown in Australia, USA and UK.

Fantastic fun. Bit expensive in ol' blighty though. Better off learning in USA if you're thinking about it.

Best way to shagging birds as well. Taking a young lady to France in their own private carriage for a weekend beats hands down a "fancy a meal at Blubeckers" anyday.

Think Churchill on here flies whirlybirds...

I put in a couple of hours on the ZX81 flight simulator - does that count?

Yup, an aeroplane has a jesus bolt whereas a helicopter is built from them.

                  Loadsa twirly bits.

Also reflected in the cost of training. Hyper, how much did you pay in total for your single engine PPL? I paid £13k(in 1998) but claimed the VAT as I managed to sign on to the NVQ route.

Where can I put a piccy?
