If women and men truly are equal, and women tend to live longer, why do they get to retire 5 years earlier??

    Just asking!!

I don't know, but there's a woman in this room that I wish would retire now.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

It gives them time to old_bloke_proof the house before hubby retires.

That was brought in when most (male) people thought that it was normal that they were not treated equally. Since then women have headed slowly towards equality in most fields: in the case of retirement, the state pension age is going up already.

This means that women stand to be downgraded to equality in pensions long before they are upgraded to equality in career, income, etc.
