Quad II-Eighty (2-80) Valve Mono Power Amplifier Pair

I'm going to lie down in a darkened room until the desire to spend £10k goes away.

I've got all the bits for a mono Maplin Millennium amplifier / Mullard 5-20 in the stores.

It's the sheer effort of doing the chassis bashing that puts I off.

A pair of these did the rounds recently on fleabay.

The seller wanted £10k, bargain when the new price is £34k.

    The response was

I once looked at building a good amp myself (it's been over 30 years since I soldered a valve socket but you never forget). Just the set of components would cost more than quite a few cars that I have bought.
Job motivation: how the powerful steal from the stupid.

What would you connect them to?
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

God I've just been hit by a tidal wave of nostalgia. Wiring up my circuit boards in the research lab...
