The plight of the disappearing red squirrel is being highlighted in a series of events dedicated to the native British species. But its tormenter, the American grey squirrel, is itself being slowly overwhelmed in parts of the country by the little-known black squirrel.

Do any of our resident squirrel enthusiasts have any comments on this important news release?

I saw a dead red squirrel in the road outside my house yesterday. :frown

Do you think a grey or black killed it in cold blood?

I saw a 'red' on Brownsea a few weeks back, it was collecting acorns from the gutter of the visitor centre roof, clever bugger.
