    Snow Forecast for late October

    Exciting news, according to this monthly forecast

    GFS data

    Snow expected in most of the UK in late October.

    Enjoy it, it's very rare for it to snow in the UK.

    Probably will be just freak occurence, before a mild winter which the Met office is expecting.

    Dutch railways held a 'snow rehearsal' on sunday due to their f**king abject performance last winter where the whole country was paralysed by 5 cm of snow.

    The rehearsal amounted to;
    - running less trains and only for short distances
    - handing out hot pea soup to passengers (it was about 20 degrees on sunday)

    Very reassuring; if it does snow this winter we'll have a well rehearsed complete bloody mess and not just an accidental complete bloody mess. AND we'll have pea soup!

      When did it first start snowing in England last year? It was quite early. And then it didn't stop until about March.

        At least the railways have snowploughs in the UK. Here in Holland, when they split up the train operators and the track operator, someone flogged off all the snowploughs; the train company says it's the responsibility of the track operator to keep the tracks open, the track operator says 'no, snowploughs are mounted on trains, so they're the responsibility of the train operators'.

        Modern management innit.

          First snow was 18th December last year, as I finished my last gig on that date and had to work from home on me last day.

              Apparently UK train companies are also planning to do the same, but in the interest of efficiency they decided to coincide such "leaves on rails rehearsal" with train drivers strike, whenever it happens.
