    Where the money goes...

Had an NHS interview today for a rubbish admin job, something that might fit in with study.

O my word, I have never seen such a bunch of numpties in my life. There was no reception, no signs no nothing, found the block I was going to then asked a passer by if x person was there, she then left the person she was with and took me to an office with three not very busy people in it, one of whom said 'o x person is away today, i don't know what to do...'

I was then taken across the hall to a desk with a pc and three 'tests' , one test was creating a pivot table and making it into a chart, the next was typing a letter!!!, followed by a typing test. 45 mins to complete, during that 45 minutes, three different people came and told me what I had to do. I expect this is how the NHS is run generally...

Finished the test I was then collected by another person who took me to an office where I meet yet another person who said we had to wait for another person. 25 minutes later person arrives. Almost 2.5 hours after I arrived I leave.

I lost count of the number of times I heard someone say 'this isn't my job' or 'i'm wearing a number of hats today' 'we have staff shortages today...'

not sure, judging by the number of people wandering about without a clue or with the attitude of 'this isn't my job' they have too many staff!

Why are you applying for an admin job? I was under the impression you were a contractor???

I'm sure there are savings to be found in the hat budget. It is an unnecessary waste of taxpayers' money for any public employee to wear more than one hat.

Used to do call logging 15 years ago, wasted the most time and did the least technical things whenever we did NHS work.

Normally the person in charge of the call logger would have challenges using notepad.

When I was contracting at a large telecom company which shall remain nameless, some of us printed out fake 'Microsoft Certified Notepad Specialist' certificates to award to the less competent permies whenever they did something particularly stupid.

Thats why the National Programme is struggling. You have to make everything so noddy even Noddy could use it!

Didn't some wise fellow say that the problem with making idiotproof systems is that nature just keeps producing better idiots?
