I would like to get rid of my shop manager

They've been with me 18 months and frankly they're just crap. They're not hitting the 'verbal' targets they are set, the shop is not set up the way I want and when I have something changed to the way I want it, they double up the work, change it back to what it was before and frankly are just a pain in the backside.

So I've decided that they must go.

But how? I haven't given them any warnings. They have a contract with holiday and I will still need to staff the business. I just do no want them working anymore.

Not sure what the procedure actually is. Will need to check with Citizens Advice and ACAS. Anyone know what the deal is?

I thought your standard solution to touchy-feely/HR/personnel type issues was a smack in the gob?

Can you put up with them for another few months?

If so, why not set them written targets for the Xmas trading period.

When they duly fail, you can show them the door.

I don't punch women. Only sockies.

Why not just bury them under the patio with all the previous incumbents?
          Going soft?

Changed to decking. It makes the wood soft.

In a few months, you'll be posting about how you are being done for unfair dismissal.

If you want to get rid - get some proper advice - CUK doesn't count.

Put it in writing tomorrow and give it to said manager. Give them the opportunity to respond. Draw up a plan for 'improvement' listing what behaviours you expect to see. Review progress every two weeks. If they improve, be happy. If they don't, they get a warning, then sacked.

Alternatively, micromanage the person to death. That's very efficient.

Alternatively, explain you are not happy with said manager, and just sack them.

PS Is that where you sell those famous Football Coasters made from Italian Wall Tiles for just £20? If so, I'd sack your SEO specialist too.

Anyway. I would like to quash this 'MF punches people' meme once and for all.

This all stems back to a few incidents in the 90's when I first started posting on CUK (bite me Nick)

So to clarify, yes, I once had a fight with a colleague over a girl, yes I once had a half a dozen or so punchs up in clubs/pubs just before I went contracting,
yes, I once pinned an IT director against the wall by his throat shouting at me, yes I once got into an argument with a colleague on a contract in Ipswich which resulted me in 'having a word',
yes at the same contract I had a punch up with a DBA, yes I once got arrested in the Grand Hotel in Brighton for a fight, yes I've told a few colleagues to f off, yes I did threaten to throw a colleague out of a first floor window
and lastly yes I did wheel a colleague around on his chair.

So if the truth be known, I haven't punched or abused any colleagues for at least 24 months.

So can we drop this meme now it's getting tired.
