I sincerely doubt that: most oil producing countries would experience a regime change due to not doling out wonga to their populations.

They'll be happy enough avoiding Danish cheese until the reason they were buying Danish cheese in the first place occurs again.
Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.

I nearly posted similar to threaded the other day, that the threat to oil supplies is by Middle Eastern countries is overrated because they need our cash even more than we need their oil.

Then I wondered if it was true. Maybe out addiction is so great that they could greatly reduce output, charge much higher prices and still have as much dosh. In the long term demand would diminish but it can't be turned off just like that.

That's just what OPEC was invented for.

But there's a limit. If we reduce demand drastically, we'll still need oil but we won't need their oil. Game over for OPEC.

France thought this through a long time ago, and decided not to be in thrall to the oil producers. So now over 75% of their electricity is nuclear. Watch the rest of us follow.

But they were prepared to fire water cannon at anti-nuclear protesters. That just wouldn't do in Blighty old bean, what.

Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.
