Some believe it held 40,000 animals, but sceptics say 1.5 million would have been needed to sustain all the species.
No, sceptics say it's the stuff of nonsense and not even worth the effort of reaching out for a calculator.Comment

I don't think even the average Christian believes the Noah and Ark story is any more than an embellishment to a story about a local flood do they?Comment

Those who believe the OT is essentially holding historical recordings from long, long ago can certainly find a not inconsistent reading that there was a flood in that case some sort of Ark isn't illogical. Translating ancient languages isn't an exact science and the people writing didn't know what "the whole earth" was at the time, or what "every species" entailed.
I think a considered Christian view is the exact details are not the most important part, but that Noah himself was real and played an important role. Few pieces of history 5000 years ago are known fully, after all.
Personally, it doesn't really matter to me how big the boat was or exactly what the deal was with the animals, etc.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment
