BBC Sport - Celtic v refs controversy
As it happens, the Referee initially claimed that the linesman changed his mind for him. However, as any football fan will know, if a linesman wants to alert the ref of something, he holds his flag aloft to attract the ref's attention. Just watch the linesman here, he immediately goes behind the goal having presumably accepted the ref's initial call.
The referee then changed his mind and revoked his decision. Almost unprecedented eh? What is worse, the Ref seemed quite happy to peddle the myth that this change of heart was down to the linesman's intervention.
The Celtic manager requested clarification of the decision. It should not be forgotten that Dougie McDonald didn’t lie just to the Celtic manager– he lied to the official SFA refereeing observer, encouraged other officials to do the same, and in turn confirmed the lie to Lennon following an official request for clarification made through the official SPL delegate.
The linesman involved subsequently resigned. This action was initially reported as being down to intimidation and threats made by fans. He then went on record as saying that his decision was as a result solely of bullying and threats made within the Refereeing community, and NOT due to supporters' threats.
The Head of Referee development he labelled a "Bully", that man is Hugh Dallas. Dallas initially supported the Dougie McDonald story, but later went cool on the idea when the facts began to unravel. Dallas is himself currently being internally investigated for recently sending a sectarian mail from his work email account.
This has largely been portrayed as simply Celtic whipping up a campaign for their own ends. However it is anything but.

The Courier - SFA
Celtic are highlighting no more than a call for reasoned accountability. Ref’s will make mistakes– of that there is no doubt — but it is where there is no accountability, no apology for the occasions when they are wrong, no transparency and no trust that is the issue.
This weekend a newspaper revealed that 80% of Scotland's top flight whistlers failed a competency test on the rules of the game.
Shock report reveals four out of five top refs failed 30-question SFA exam - The Daily Record
And just for balance, another example of Official Incompetence. This is a clip from this weekend's Rangers game.
BBC Sport - Miller's bizarre throw-in decision
These guys are not only making far more mistakes than it is reasonable to accept, they seem to feel they are impervious to any criticism. They have also been found to be guilty of lying, and stand accused by one of their own of allowing a culture of bullying. It is high time that they were called to account. Let them strike I say, they should be easy enough to replace.
