Cut off top of finger. Should go to hospital

Just trapped my finger in the door of a local shop. Big heavy metal door. The door closer didn't work and just closed at such a speed it gullotined my main typing finger.

The nail cleanly cut off with a large gash going around half on one side. It's gone a little flip top(about ha;f the finger can be lifted up from 7-8mm) but hasn't swollen as the nail was cut off.

Lots of blood all over the newly lain snow. The missus reckons I need stiches, but surely if I just sort of glue it together and wrap it tightly it will seal itself.

    Stiches or tightly wrapped padding???

How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

Ouch. Stitches to be on the safe non-floppy finger falling off syndrome side I'd say.

It's surprising door finger guillotines aren't a more common occurrence, I've had a few close calls. Not least by putting fingers in the hinged side, where there's a lot of leverage.

Luckily, there are no muscles in the fingers

Stitches definitely - will be tidier and less painful in the long run.
...my quagmire of greed....my cesspit of laziness and unfairness....all I am doing is sticking two fingers up at nurses, doctors and other hard working employed professionals...

                    glue , definately.

glue the finger tip to a pea stick or similar, then you will be able to get at that annoying itch. you know, the one right in the middle of your back
