Low-life tactics of means to end

I need opinion of the enlightened members of this board on the following matter: I play online chess from time to time on a place where they keep rankings of the game. I am barely average, which is rather annoying :rolleyes

So I thought of this: get good chess program and mimic-opponents moves in turn copying computer moves on real board. Do you think this is low-life to even consider doing that? :rolleyes

Watch the following episode of Blake's 7 (late 1970s BBC sci-fi show) to assess the risks involved in doing this (which in that case is death):

        Gambit
Avon and Vila smuggle a miniaturised Orac into the casino, and use his mathematical prowess to break the bank. Krantor drugs Vila’s drinks, and talks him into playing Speed Chess against an unbeatable chess-master called the Klute - not only is a wealthy prize at stake, so are the contestants’ lives… Orac helps Vila to win the game, and the Klute’s failure is rewarded with his electrocution

          cheating

Well, it would have been cheating if I did it -- that would take the achivement out of the game, I rarely used cheats in games, and when I did I could not play that game afterwards.

That's why I can't be arsed to live anymore ever since I have won £10 mln in Lotto :rolleyes

            Re: cheating

You can play games when you have finished the SKA and it actually does something useful. :b

              useful

Oh that? I will just need to recompile it with -D=USEFUL parameter then :b

                Re: useful

Maybe there's a lesson in this for you AtW - it's not about your ranking, it's about taking part ..

BTW Those 14K+ posts, how many of them were an AtW bot?

AtW, oh dear. If you want to cheat, then be careful; a machine plays like a machine and is fairly easy to beat. What happens when your skilled opponent takes you out of book and throws the software?

What's your ELO or BCM rating?
