I call BS. Ofgem estimate the measures will increase bills by 25%, which actually equates to about £270 on the average bill. But that is over the course of the next decade, or less than 2.5% a year on average. Averaged out we are talking about an increase in the annual bill that works out less than the price of a pint per household per month.

If anything it is The Mail and Telegraph who are scaring the poor and vulnerable by quoting nonsense figures plucked out of the air by 'experts' from e.g. The Taxpayers Alliance.

Thiere was also a programme about it, the costs of subsidising solar panels is now 10 billion EUR, and this is set to go up next year as well, so we'll get a 10% hike next year as well. If energy goes up as well (gas, oil etc) that will be on top of that.

It was also in the letter we all received from the utility company, the rise is due solely to renewable subsidies.

Don't forget the pound dropped last year so energy prices in the UK may have gone up because of that, in Germany oil and gas prices have come down.

I wouldnt stress too much about what pj says, he has used his model to give us his prediction. the cost of a pint a month.

we will be able to check it out soon enough. so around about the time that the ice should be disappearing from the north pole, the average leccky bill should have gone up by a fiver a month
