    Buying a new car

Thinking about buying a new car or perhaps something low mileage around 12 months old budget £12k.

Petrol, around 1.6 litre. Any recommendations or anything to avoid?

Don't you live in the sticks?

If so, perhaps a (small) 4x4 is the way to go.

Yeah live in the sticks but not fussed on 4x4's. Think I'd get better value for money with something more mundane.

I work from home so it's not essential to be mobile during the worst of the winter weather.

What's wrong with hookers, drugs and booze like a normal single contractor with spare cash?

              Ah, OK.

TBH, I think you will have limited options for a low miler 1.6 one year old car for £12K unless it is a Citreon or Peugeot.

I'd recommend a VW Golf but that would be well outside your budget.

              How about a Suzuki Swift?

                Get a Y reg Avensis 77k - £1300 - they're great!

Spend the rest on something decent like an extended long haul holiday...
