    Sod's Law

Start in a new gig and get 15 mails and 8 phone calls in one day from agents looking for people with your specialism. When clientco announces end of gig there's nothing to be found.

Is this contracting's version of the second law of thermodynamics, i.e. an incontrovertible truth or am I the only one that experiences this?

You should know when the gig will end and already have sorted something out. Waiting to be told is so old skool.

Last gig told them I would not renew, later they were telling some other contractors on the project they would have nothing for them in Jan. I already had a new role for Jan
    Fiscal nomad it's legal.

      Feast or famine.

      It has always been thus.

      Oh well.

Btw, your old client phoned me this afternoon...

The best contract turns up just after you have signed on the doted line.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

        I preferred version 1!

Oh, probably offering not enough money to go permie after you applied for a contracting role nearly a year ago?

          Wouldn't surprise me.

I'm benched at end of March. Too early to start looking?

Ah well, that will at least keep you out of the way of one or two complete tosspots I shan't be naming in public.

Not accepted anything, just keeping my options open.

Seriously though; that place is brilliant for contracting, but most of the permies were thoroughly miserable and downtrodden.
