Been locked up for working over 65?

Just wondering if anyone who was persistent about working after 65 ended up in jail because of it.

(Always like to think someone is worse of than me.)

I've read that three times and still it makes no sense.

fwiw, my father recently packed in his job (lab technician) at age 72.

It isn't illegal to work after 65. The expression "compulsory retirement age" means that your employer can insist that you retire from employment with them at that age, but there is nothing to stop you getting employment at a place that chooses not to enforce that limit.

65? Who retires at 65 - they've got to be 58+ now to do so?

From the State Pension Age Calculator web site:

The State Pension Age (SPA) is the earliest age you can draw your State Pension. Your SPA is specific to your date of birth.

Between April 2010 and November 2018, women's retirement ages are increasing to 65. There will be an accelerated increase between April 2016 and November 2018.

Between December 2018 and April 2020, retirement ages for men and women are increasing to 66.

Between April 2034 and April 2036, retirement ages for men and women are increasing to 67.

Between April 2044 and April 2046, retirement ages for men and women are increasing to 68.

This calculator does not take into account changes announced in the Government's recent Spending Review which are not expected to be passed into law summer 2011.

Just FYI in some other European Countries it is illegal to withdraw your pension and work at the same time - they will let you work but you will stop receiving your pension that you have been saving for for 40 years or so just because you're still productive.
I can't think of a place in the world where it's strictly illegal to work above a certain age.
