No one owes a greater thank you to her than the IT contractor.

The new Tory leadership is weak as our all of the others. Politics in the Uk stinks.

And how exactly she was better than Churchill?

Thankfully Churchill was before Thatcher, otherwise he'd have no industry to defend the country apart from bunch of overpaid bankers.

Churchill was a war-time leader and was the right man for the job. He was a drinking, smoking stalwart and was right for the job at hand. ie. A war.

After the war finished he was voted out on a landslide before having a second stint. Labour had started the NHS and other reforms, the country was bankrupt. Not much he could do. Thatcher took a country on it's knees, kicked the new Nazi/Communist menance(the unions) and took has to a new prosperity.

Labour then ****ed that right up.

          Thatcher better than Churchill IMO.

It was the trade unions that destroyed UKs industry by making it uncompetitive and costly and New labour have finished it off.
she and Reagan also brought down the Soviet Union. And do bear in mind that 20% of the UKs tax revenue comes from the financial industry - overpaid bankers are an irrellevance used to stir up stupid people who are driven by envy.

Do they not have unions in Germany and France? Somehow those two countries managed to keep industries and thus meaningful employment for millions of their citizens.

France did not have Thatcher, but it had Joan of Arc

Her biggest mistake (in my opinion) was effectively closing down the UK nuclear industry because we had north sea oil and gas. She cancelled the UK civil nuclear programme after Sizewell B was commissioned thus committing the UK industry to a slow, lingering death. Who have we turned to for nuclear power stations? The French. It makes me ill thinking about it. Her 2nd biggest mistake was instead of investing it, spending all the UK's oil/gas revenues paying disability benefits to people who were and are not ill just to massage the unemployment numbers.

She had good PR and build very good image abroad.

I mean FFS, once she stole milk from kids you could expect anything from her, neither of which is good.

                    Joan was a great leader.

A pity that the French then bottled it and had her executed to stop her upsetting the invading English. But twas ever so...
