    Worst accident/illness thread?

    Slightly macabre but inspired by NF & RC's near misses... what is the most serious illness or injury you've had?

    Special mentions for:
    • Longest stretch in hospital
    • Most broken over life
    • Most bones broken in single incident
    • Best photo
    • Most gross

    I'd start, but the best I can do is a broken toe.

    I'll bid for that prize;

    31 years of rugby have provided me with a variety of medical delights;

    Bones
    3 ribs broken
    1 broken wrist
    1 broken leg
    cracked skull
    dislocated thigh
    dislocated shoulder
    nose (twice)
    all fingers, including crushed right middle finger, expertly repaired by one of Europe's best hand surgeons
    stress fracture on tibial tuberosity

    Muscles/tendons/ligaments
    torn elbow ligament
    torn quadriceps
    torn hamstrings

    Cartilages
    bent sternum
    1 cauliflower ear surgically repaired

      Let me amend that to 2 sub-categories:

      - most broken over life
      - most broken in single incident

        Yeah, good idea; I'm crap at the second category. I'm still trying to become crap at the first.

          Only soft tissue damage (don't know of anyone in my family to have broken bones). I used to knock my knee as I flew over cars in my motorbike days and it would swell up. The bikes didn't come off so lightly. Tore a pec in the gym which put an end to my 300lb bench pressing days.

            I'm in perfect physical condition I'm afraid.
            Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

                I used to squat with an awful lot more than that. Heck, I used to cheat curl with 220lb.

                  TW in his youth;

                  Mind you, I've squatted 230kg which is going on for 500lb. Then I got the stress fracture.
