    Budget 2011 speculation/predictions - go on 'ave a flutter ;)

Was just reading this blog post by Emma Boon at the TPA where she says:

The Budget is still a number of weeks away but that hasn’t stopped the furious speculation from getting underway: what exactly will be in Osborne’s Budget in March?
As I've yet to see any of this 'furious speculation' I'd like to enquire from our esteemed panel of people who know everything what exactly we can expect on March 23rd... anyone?

        Just some tinkering.

This is a government that talks hard, but actually will do very little except hope the City makes enough profit on cheap money to reduce the rate of public borrowing.

Next government, without a shadow of a doubt, be Labour, and so any cost cutting is a completely pointless exercise as the spend spend spend, borrow, borrow, borrow will return and reverse any savings in a matter of months.

WHS - And any real cuts simply give Labour more leaway to add high-spending "popular" policies to their manifesto.

So they're a destructive menace even when not in power!

Edit: Ronald Reagan and Maggie Thatcher used to let public debt build up, mainly for that very reason.
