Inequality of Pay. Women vs Men

Yes its disgusting that sexes are not paid the same for the same job. But whoa hold your horses there.

But they're not equal are they.

There is a lot of guff going around that this is drastically unfair. But lets say it is equal. Women get loads more benefits then men. In fact, for an employer equal pay for women would be more expensive.

Little Timmy is ill today, so I am ill today
Maternity leave but costs employers loads.
There days off for womens problems, pregnancy, looking after the kids
Then theres the basis of women who work and have kids, with no partners, they cannot be as flexible.

So all in all, if the benefits aint equal, then neither should be the pay.

Best of three sets vs best of five for men. Give me strength.

Someone texted in to Radio 1 this afternoon pointing out that women shouldn't get as much as men as they waste loads of time in the office gossiping, discussing soaps, swapping recipes and talking about make-up.

The anser here is simple. Children. Once women have them the majority see their welfare as a higher priority (quite rightly) than meeting deadlines to produce 50-slide Powerpoints about 'leveraging synergies'. That's why most women you see who make it to the top don't have kids because they can't - ie are either Bitter and Barren, hatchet faced spinsters or Lesbians.

        the plot thickens

Apparently its the lack of part time senior posts that are the problem, those nasty employers won't give their most senior employees the mornings off.

Oh and the lack of aspiration in female school leavers.

Of course its all the mens fault.

          Crock of tulipe

This study seems a crock of tulipe to me.

Added to which the numbers of guest women giving their reaction on TV & radio who failed so monumentally to understand the study wasn't comparing men & women salaries with the same employer.

So many of them said things like "there should be a law against it".
Ermmm ... there already is dears, created back in the 70s. Doh !

....but I think you'll find that the report doesn't actually say this. It says the opposite - that women do usually get paid the same for the same job.

the problem is that women don't generally get the same jobs. Men tend to get full-time jobs lasting long periods of time that build into senior management roles. Women tend to get part-time jobs that fill in between childcare and don't build into anything very much.

The one good thing about the report is that it didn't recommend equal pay audits. These are usually a complete waste of time and suck up tons of effort from the employer that could be better spent running the business.

That comment comes from a little insecure man who has difficulty in relating to, or communicating with women. I think you will find that many of the top women manage to both hold down top jobs and manage a family at the same time. Women are much better at multi tasking. The real reason why so few women do not get to the top of their profession is because they do not want to. They have better things to do, they are not under such peer pressure to succeed in their jobs as men (though they are interms of bringing up kids and how they look). If for example a woman gives up a job as a senior partner to a large law firm to instead teach at a nursery school she is not labelled as someone who has "copped out" in the way that a man would be.

So for all you sad little men in terms of raw intelligence, ability and ambition women are if anything ahead of us. It is just that they have different priorities, and work tends to be lower down their list than it is of men. This is why they earn less.

The answer is obvious: men should pay more tax, and the money raised given as tax rebates to women.
