    Entertainment this weekend

In Luton this weekend this mob pop down to meet up with this mob
while this mob try and stop them from redecorating.

Streets and businesses are closed. Licensed premises not selling booze.

The sorts of numbers well exceed those of the Millwall riots at Kenilworth road

    Read all about it

The far-right English Defence League is due to stage the biggest demonstration in its 18-month history this weekend amid growing fears of widespread disorder.

Thousands of EDL activists from across England will descend on Luton, the Bedfordshire town where the organisation started, for the protest on Saturday.
Keep an eye out for this one on the news, should be entertaining. We are 0.5 miles from town centre.

Similar to this a few weeks ago. Apparently, nothing much happened. Fingers crossed it's the same for Luton.

Just got in from a 50th at the casino in town. The rumours abounded before I set off, and then a reassuring text from the "ringmaster" neighbourhood watch thingy at around 7pm said don't listen to rumours as the coppers are out in force (pardon the pun)

After 4am, we were walking right down the proposed march path, and surprisingly not many shop windows were boared. Waterstones for example had removed it's window display and nothing else, no boarding.

Taxis were hard to come by, and we bumped into a bunch of flat-foots patrolling and asked where the cabs were? A rural response came back as both officers were up from Western-Super-Mare. They didn't know and obviously wouldn't. They seem taken aback when I said "welcome to Luton" and then went on to thank them for being here. As a Lutonion if someone drives up here from over 3 counties to defend us against the baying hoards I feel it my duty to sound grateful.

I naiively hope this is a peaceful protest.

Why TF would ANYONE want to live in Luton?

We don't have the problem of EDL round here, we have the SDL which is pretty much the Rangers and Hearts casuals.

Marches over. No major violence. Police escorting protestors out of the town.
