Lesson One: how to feel old...

Explaining to your 15 yo son that you actually had to get up and 'turn over' an LP, it doesn't 'just know'....

    Previously we've had;

    1. How do you press the buttons on those old phones with a circle?

    2. Does a fax machine actually send the paper?

    3. Did you have colours in the 60's? Yes, we did tho there was only actually Technicolor not colour we have now. However if you where born 'oop Narf' it was still B&W until 1971 or you bought a licence - big money in Bolton so we stayed B&W until 1976 when I bought a red and green jumper and cost my mum loads.

Youth of today, and I've not started on the pit yet and I have watched Angela's Ashes recently....

I remember asking my Mum is there was colour when she grew up.

My lot bought me some beers for my birthday.

Half way through I think I've spotted a theme.

          So far I've drunk:

          Old Thumper
          Old Crafty Hen
          Old Empire

          Still to go I've got:

          Old Bob
          Old Hooky
          Old Peculiar

          Hmmmm.....

And it is especially important for Lancastrians to remind everybody of this, now that it is in Greater Manchester.

            4. While listening to Pulp "Disco 2000" with some younger friends: 'What was "woodchip"?'

I think that's quite a common one. Makes sense when you think about it.

Get them to watch 'Homes under the Hammer'.

My youngest was completely confused by the concept a film camera. "What, like you can video stuff?"
