    Bloody Lesbians!

Or feminists, or what ever they call themselves these days!

I was dragged up proper by my da, so I hold doors open, offer my seat etc and I'm finding more and more women get really pissed off with this now, with tutting, head shaking and not uncommonly a full blown rant on equality rather than a courteous "Thanks, I'm alright".

What's the point of holding the door open or offering your seat if you don't? I always thought one good deed deserved another and catching an eye full of bosom doesn't take any effort on the ladies part so all is square?

Does this mean the longer you stare isn't a sign of a greater compliment either then???

BGG experienced a similar situation; after holding a door open he was accused of “doing it just because she was a lady” his response was “no I did it because I am a gentleman”

I just think its manners & I do the same for men & expect the same back; not on a gender basis but out of politeness.

Happened to me many years ago in London when visiting a Client's offices in Temple.

Opened the door for a lady carrying various legal documents all under one arm, and an attache case in the other. Looked like she was about to drop the lot.

Received a few choice words about "You don't need to open the door for me because I'm a woman you know".

            I replied "Actually, I didn't. I opened it because I am a gentleman."

            She huffed and stormed off.

            Oh well.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I was brought up that it was rude to not open the door for the person behind you if they also wanted to go through.

Still feminists must be chuffed about their equal rights over car insurance

Now they can pay the same as blokes, thats equality for you

WSS. Though I think I sometimes over-compensate. I'm more likely to let a door slam in a woman's face than a man's because I'm conscience of being seen as the sort of old fuddy duddy that thinks you should open doors for women.

I find shaking hands with women really wierd too. I don't know why that is; it just feels like the wrong thing to be doing. But then maybe I'm just a socially awkward IT geek.
