    Plate tectonics

Just looking at this map of the plates that make up the earths crust.

Given that we have had two fairly big quakes around the edge of the pacific plate recently, what are the chances of the US west coast getting shaken violently in the near future?
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Can we blame this on Global Warming? Would higher taxes help?

No, but if all the people on low lying islands are wiped out by Tsunamis then we can stop worrying about sea level rises.

I thought they were overdue a Big One in California. Now that might really screw up the economy, imagine if FaceBook was hit (if only).

Where are Apple? Imagine if the whole world's supply of iPads were suddenly cut off?
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

I disagree. If you wipe out the logistics, the buildings, and large chunks of infrastructure in an economy like California or Japan, you still have millions of highly educated people who will rebuild the economy very quickly. It would be back on its legs quite quickly. It's a different matter in a poor country with low literacy standards.

The panic on financial markets is another matter; that's all about airheads worrying that clever people can't solve problems.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

Is Japan a poor country? Also, have the US finished fixing New Orleans yet?

edit: re-reading I'm not sure what point you're making. I was comparing California to Japan, not to poor countries.
