Starting a blog as a means to get work

Has anyone done this? In my field of BPM the blogs seem to be mostly product vendors waxing lyrical about their product. There are a few blogs that seem to be neutral but I read some of the posts last night and was stunned at the amount of utter bilge that was being upchucked.

Thinking about bpmguy.com with articles about my experiences. I think I have some really good stuff to say. I was set thinking about all of the common failures I have seen on BPM projects over the years and this then made me think about blogging.

Waste of effort or valuable contribution to the interweb that may drum up trade?
Knock first as I might be balancing my chakras.

How do you see it might drum you up trade?

Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

Waste of effort unless you are going to do the full thing i.e. give talks at conferences, have a twitter feed

Well if I had a BPM project going down the tubes and chanced upon a guy blogging really good stuff that struck many chords with me I might hit the send button on the contact form.

Fair enough. But, how would they find you?

Need to write a fully searchable indexed repository of internet web pages first.

            Dammit.

Who'd want to read your drivel?

Would this bring your number of simultaneous 100% effort projects to five now?

We may have hit a small snag.
