Long term contracting outside UK

HI All,

I've been contracting in the UK via Ltd for 1.5 years and my client has been mentioning a possible move to Singapore via its local branch there.

It is still early stage and wanted to knwo what do people do in those situations? Taking into account this is a >6months contract.

Questions that pop in my mind at the moment are:
1. Is it better to contract via my exisiting UK Ltd company or open a Ltd locally in Singapore.(must admit still need to beef up my local knowledge of howto).Thinking that would minimise risk of getting caugh tin IR35.

2. What do I need to consider in terms of tax/accounting if I get paid in singDollar into my UK Ltd.?

3. Any useful literature/thread that anyone can point me to regarding uk contractors abroad?

You probably need some advice from a Singaporean tax advisor or lawyer. You can´t simply go there and start billing them from a UK Ltd. You´d be asking for it. The big mistake of most contractors working abroad is that they assume they only need to worry about HMRC. First and foremost you need to worry about the taxman in Singapore, who will have the powers to put you in jail if you don´t obey their laws.
