Barclaycard to relocate the firm's anti-fraud operation to India

With all the good news posted in the other other threads I thought I'd add my own. Barclays are always a good bet for this.

The controversial cost-cutting move, which comes just three weeks after parent company Barclays posted record profits of 11.6billion

Isn't that where the fraud is happening in the first place though? Are Tesco and Barclays empires of evil? Good work Dave (and Gordon and Blair).

    And another:

Hmmm. Dunno. I mostly agree with things you say/suggest TW but is it? Of course India is generally a more corrupt society, that goes without saying; greater poverty=greater corruption is usually a pretty sound equation, but specifically wrt Barclays credit card fraud? Got a link?

PS Can they be as f* useless as some call centre staff here?

I was probably thinking of this

but I was half joking; it probably goes on here too. Although you have to wonder how safe bank data is in Johnny Foreigner land with their Johnny Foreigner ways and business doings. The banks would probably sell your details for a quick buck anyway, without needing to employ dodgy staff for that.

A shrewd calculation at the heart of it might well be (in my opinion) that additional fraud due to location in a low cost area won't exceed savings achieved by moving there.

Ironically it could end up making it so hard to report fraud that some folks will give up and take their business elsewhere out of frustration.

It couldn't happen to a better bunch of bankers
